The pattern bar in this picture is a version of twill woven with the diamond pattern bar (that’s it on the right). Turn the bar to change the shed; the pattern is formed by varying the number of rows you weave in each shed.

Meet the Boss. See that bar at the top? It separates the warp threads for you, so all you have to do to weave a row is pass the needle straight through. Turn the bar to the next position, and weave another row. Plain weave, such as tapestry, is a breeze. But those bars can also lift the warp in patterns, like a multi-shaft loom. So you can make a real fancy weave structure, real easily. Row by row. Without tie-ups, levers, lengthy set-up, or deciphering drafts.
