make it: a piece with zigzag twill

Use your plain-weave and twill pattern bar skills from the getting-started videos to weave a finished piece. This project is easiest if you watch those videos first.

The pattern is roughly as follows.

Start with the plain weave bar. Weave several rows of plain weave (I have used a thinner yarn in a color that contrasts with the zigzag section).

Remove the plain weave bar and insert the twill pattern bar. This will make the zigzag section.

For the zigzag section:

Step 1: Weave 5 rows while rotating the bar forward one position between every row.

Step 2: Weave 5 rows while rotating the bar backwards one position between every row.

Repeat step one and step two.

When you’re finished with the zigzag, remove the twill bar and insert the plain weave. Weave a few rows of plain weave (use a thinner yarn or contrasting color if you like).

Customize it:

Change up the colors, use thicker or thinner yarns, or make each section with more rows or fewer rows.

Try changing the rotation more often, or less often, or randomly. That will make the zigzags smaller, larger, or irregular. Experiment!
