designed for ease of use, gentler on hands and wrists
Pain in your hands? Me, too.
Part of the reason I designed this loom was personal — I wanted a kinder, gentler, and just plain easier alternative to regular looms — but one that would still be interesting and creative. I’ve been a maker my whole life and somewhere along the way I must have some damage to my grip because it’s difficult to work now without discomfort. When I took a class to learn to use a four-shaft loom, I loved it, but I couldn’t believe how much strength it required to warp. I ended up icing my hand at the end of the day!
So I designed this loom with the following:
chunky knobs, simple rotating action
shedding device to make weaving a simpler motion
lightweight and portable
no tight grip, strong pulling or fine pinching needed
easy setup - no complex knots or threading
gentler on hands and wrists
For me, this loom has made weaving physically easier as well as easier to understand. We have heard from folks including those with arthritis and dexterity and vision challenges who have found that our design makes weaving more accessible. On Ravelry, I was asked to share about it in an accessible patterns forum by the moderator, a fiber artist with vision challenges, who has found the loom helpful. And I have heard from several people who noted that they have trouble, as I do, understanding traditional four-shaft weaving, but our system made it clear for them.

"Easy on my arthritic hands and the yoga block works a treat to give me a better weaving angle and is non slip😀. Perfect for testing out ideas/yarn combos and for those times your hands want to do something creative but low pressure."
From Lynn’s review. She propped up her boomloom on a yoga block to keep it stable and get a good working angle
