Short video showing the parts of the cherrywood loom, how it assembles and a few more details.
Limited edition! The boomloom BOSS in cherrywood PLUS a starter kit with everything you need to make one plain-weave piece.
This is a special hardwood version of our patternmaking loom the BOSS. They are small-batch looms in cherrywood, made for us in Salem, NY by custom furniture makers New Collar Goods. The two ends connect with 12” hard maple dowels from Maine-based company Kemp Woods. Note that until the loom is warped, the dowels will fit loosely, and the frame will be wiggly. After warping it will be tight, with virtually no play in the frame. We designed it this way, instead of assembled and glued, so you can swap out longer dowels for a longer weaving length. We also like that it comes apart for storage and travel. This is not a loom to weave yardage on — your piece will be as long as the loom is when you begin weaving.
See the video in this listing to get a better sense of how it is made and how it works.
You will receive:
One cherrywood loom with two hardwood maple dowels
One plain weave pattern bar
STARTER KIT:
Enough yarn and warp thread to make one piece. Yarn colors will vary but will be a combination of chunky and worsted-weight all-wool yarn in jewel-tone colors.
One wood tapestry needle custom-made for us as well as a plastic shuttle-type needle that can be loaded with yarn and thinner tapestry needles
One small beater comb
Our cotton logo drawstring bag for travel and storage
These are incredibly well made and simple weaving tools that can be used as a frame loom or with our pattern bars. They are sturdy, stable and comfortable to use on a table or a lap. The cherrywood is beautifully finished with a natural oil finish. They slip apart for storage or travel. To weave a longer piece, they can be lengthened with longer 1/2” diameter dowels, readily available in stores and online from suppliers including Home Depot.
Weaving width is about 6.5”, weaving length about 10” below the pattern bar. EPI is about 6. Use our free online pattern picker to plan a weaving then make it in real life. https://www.theboomloom.com/patternpickers
Uses all the same bars as the original Boss. Set of 4 pattern bars is listed here. Purchase the four-bar set together with a loom for a 15% discount on the bars. Discount is automatically applied at checkout. Bars also sold individually.
This loom arrives un-assembled. To assemble, slide dowels into the pre-drilled holes. The frame will be wiggly until it is warped.

Flat rate shipping in US. Please note that we generally ship out once a week. If you have a rush situation pls reach out to see if we are able to ship more quickly.
International customers: Please note that our shipping fee does not include any fees or taxes charged by your country. As you may be well aware, shipping from the U.S. on small-business products like mine can carry steep fees on top of the shipping cost. Customers are responsible for these costs and it is advisable to check ahead of time to see what those might be, to avoid an unpleasant surprise. If you reject a package at customs due to high fees, I can only issue a refund when and if the package is returned to me. I apologize for the inconvenience and wish I had a better solution to offer.
